Job Summary:

The Manitoba Metis Federation (MMF) is seeking a highly skilled Policy Analyst to join our Engagement and Consultation Department. As a Policy Analyst, you will be responsible for the operation of the Engagement and Consultation process, in accordance with the MMF's Resolution No. 8, for all matters that may impact the rights, interests, and claims of the Red River Métis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Research and analyze political and policy-related matters regarding projects, initiatives, agreements, or applicable documents.
  • Draft briefings, letters, proposals, and reports to inform and support the MMF's decision-making process.
  • Facilitate engagement and consultation related matters with proponents, governments, and other stakeholders.
  • Liaise with MMF departments, affiliates, and regions, interacting with subject matter experts, leadership, and citizens.
  • Build and maintain relationships with proponents and governments while advocating for the rights, interests, and claims of the Red River Métis.
  • Attend meetings and maintain internal engagement and consultation records.
  • Plan, attend, and present information at community meetings.

Requirements:

  • Post-secondary education in communications, indigenous studies, social or environmental sciences, natural resources management, or other related disciplines.
  • Experience in policy and program development, preferably in a corporate or governmental setting.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 and experience with budgets, financial tracking, and reporting.
  • Excellent public speaking, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Bilingualism is an asset, and knowledge of the MMF's Resolution No. 8 process and consultation and engagement processes is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Métis culture and MMF programs and services is a definite asset.
  • Ability to travel and possess a valid Manitoba Driver's license with access to a reliable vehicle.
