Job Summary:

The Manitoba Metis Federation is seeking a highly skilled Policy Analyst to join our Engagement and Consultation Department. As a Policy Analyst, you will play a critical role in supporting the development and implementation of policies that promote the rights, interests, and claims of the Red River Métis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research and analysis on policy-related matters to inform decision-making and policy development;
  • Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders, including Proponents, Governments, and other external partners;
  • Collaborate with MMF departments, affiliates, and regions to ensure effective engagement and consultation on policy matters;
  • Provide policy advice and support to leadership and other stakeholders;
  • Develop and maintain policy briefs, reports, and other documentation;
  • Stay up-to-date on policy developments and trends, and provide recommendations for policy improvements;
  • Support the development and implementation of policy initiatives and projects;
  • Contribute to the development of policy frameworks and guidelines;
  • Provide training and support to staff on policy-related matters;
  • Perform other duties as required.

Requirements:

  • Post-secondary education in a relevant field, such as communications, indigenous studies, social sciences, or environmental sciences;
  • Experience in policy development and analysis;
  • Experience working with leadership in a corporate or governmental setting;
  • Strong research and analytical skills;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment;
  • Ability to travel, valid Manitoba Driver's license with access to a reliable vehicle;
  • Knowledge of the MMF's Resolution No. 8 process is an asset;
  • Knowledge of consultation and engagement processes is an asset;
  • Knowledge of Métis culture and MMF programs and services is an asset.
