Job Summary

The Manitoba Metis Federation is seeking a highly skilled Policy Analyst to join our team. As a Policy Analyst, you will play a critical role in the operation of the Engagement and Consultation process, ensuring that the rights, interests, and claims of the Red River Métis are protected and advanced.

Key Responsibilities
  • Research and Analysis: Conduct thorough research on political and policy-related matters, providing informed briefings and reports to support decision-making.
  • Policy Development: Develop and implement policies and programs that align with the MMF's strategic objectives, ensuring effective engagement and consultation with stakeholders.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Facilitate engagement and consultation with Proponents, Governments, and other stakeholders, building and maintaining relationships to advance the interests of the Red River Métis.
  • Communication and Reporting: Develop and disseminate clear and concise reports, briefings, and proposals to stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and transparency.
  • Collaboration and Teamwork: Work closely with MMF departments, affiliates, and regions to ensure seamless coordination and effective implementation of policies and programs.
Requirements
  • Education: Post-secondary education in communications, indigenous studies, social or environmental sciences, natural resources management, or a related discipline.
  • Experience: Proven experience in policy and program development, with a strong understanding of government relations and stakeholder engagement.
  • Skills: Excellent public speaking, verbal and written communication skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 and experience with budgets, financial tracking, and reporting.
  • Language: Bilingualism is an asset, with knowledge of the MMF's Resolution No. 8 process and consultation and engagement processes preferred.
  • Travel: Ability to travel, with a valid Manitoba Driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.
