The Brandon University is seeking a highly skilled Policy Analyst to join our team in the Engagement and Consultation Department. As a Policy Analyst, you will be responsible for the operation of the Engagement and Consultation process, in accordance with the University's policies and procedures, for all matters that may impact the rights, interests, and claims of the Indigenous communities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Research, inform, and report on all political/policy related matters regarding projects, initiatives, agreements, or applicable documents;
  • Draft briefings, letters, proposals, and reports;
  • Facilitate all engagement/consultation related matters with stakeholders and other departments;
  • Liaise with University departments, affiliates, and regions, interacting with subject matter experts, leadership, and community members;
  • Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders while advocating for the rights, interests, and claims of the Indigenous communities;
  • Attend meetings and maintain internal engagement and consultation records;
  • Plan, attend, and present information at community meetings.

Requirements:

  • Post-secondary education in communications, indigenous studies, social or environmental sciences, natural resources management, or other related discipline;
  • Experience in policy and program development;
  • Experience working with leadership in a corporate or governmental setting;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365;
  • Experience with budgets, financial tracking, and reporting;
  • Excellent public speaking, verbal, and written communication skills;
  • Bilingual an asset;
  • Knowledge of the University's policies and procedures is preferred;
  • Knowledge of consultation and engagement processes is preferred;
  • Knowledge of Indigenous culture and University programs and services is a definite asset;
  • Ability to travel, valid driver's license with access to a reliable vehicle.
