Position Summary: As a Strategic Business Analyst, you will play a pivotal role in providing ongoing strategic and operational assistance to Calgary Transit (CT), focusing on key projects related to transit revenue generation. Your responsibilities will include collaborating with various internal business units, civic partners, and local organizations to develop innovative transit revenue programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Formulate and execute strategies and policies to steer business unit operations effectively.
  • Document and standardize processes, including the development of Calgary Transit's revenue generation approach.
  • Establish and nurture relationships with City staff, civic partners, external organizations, and event coordinators.
  • Oversee revenue contracts and partnership agreements, engaging in consultation and negotiation with stakeholders, vendors, and partners.
  • Identify and spearhead continuous improvement initiatives within Calgary Transit, creating new processes and systems to align with business unit objectives while addressing emerging trends and opportunities.
  • Lead interdisciplinary teams within Calgary Transit and externally, focusing on process enhancements, team building, data collection and analysis, problem identification and resolution, project management, and strategic procurement.
  • Assess existing and emerging issues, developing comprehensive plans, strategies, and tactics to address these challenges while monitoring for improvement and resolution.
  • Prepare reports, presentations, and recommendations for public dissemination, departmental teams, business unit leadership, management teams, and City Council.
  • Create memos, briefing notes, presentations, Council reports, business cases, procurement documents, statistical reports, and financial analyses to meet organizational requirements.

Qualifications:

  • A degree in Urban Studies, Urban Planning, Commerce, Public Policy, Economics, Social Sciences, Business Management, or a related field, accompanied by a minimum of 5 years of experience in strategic planning, policy development, procurement, contract management, and business analysis.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with a proven track record in implementing process and service improvement initiatives.
  • Experience in qualitative and quantitative research and analysis, drafting procurement documents and business cases, contract management, and writing Council reports is considered an asset.
  • Success in this role requires strong analytical, problem-solving, negotiation, and strategic thinking abilities, along with the capacity to prioritize tasks, build consensus among partners, and influence without direct authority.
