Position Overview
As a Strategic Business Analyst, you will play a crucial role in offering continuous strategic and operational support to Calgary Transit (CT), particularly focusing on priority initiatives related to transit revenues. Your responsibilities will include collaborating with various internal departments, civic partners, and local organizations to create innovative transit revenue programs. This will involve researching industry best practices, analyzing CT data, and formulating political and strategic recommendations regarding technology adoption, business unit policies, and evolving revenue programs.

Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will:

  • Develop and implement strategic policies to guide operational functions.
  • Document processes and standard operating procedures, including establishing Calgary Transit's revenue generation approach.
  • Foster relationships with City staff, civic partners, external organizations, and event organizers.
  • Manage revenue contracts and partnership agreements, engaging in consultation and negotiation with stakeholders, vendors, and partners.
  • Identify and lead initiatives for continuous improvement within Calgary Transit, developing new processes and systems to achieve business unit objectives while addressing emerging trends and opportunities.
  • Lead interdisciplinary teams within Calgary Transit and externally to enhance processes, support team development, and conduct data analysis for problem identification and resolution.
  • Assess existing and emerging issues, developing plans and strategies to address them while monitoring for improvement.
  • Create reports, presentations, and recommendations for various audiences, including the public, departmental teams, business unit leadership, and City Council.
  • Prepare memos, briefing notes, presentations, Council reports, business cases, procurement documents, statistical reports, and financial analyses.

Qualifications
To be successful in this position, you should possess:

  • A degree in Urban Studies, Urban Planning, Commerce, Public Policy, Economics, Social Sciences, Business Management, or a related field, along with a minimum of 5 years of experience in strategic planning, policy development, procurement, contract management, and business analysis.
  • Experience in implementing process and service improvement initiatives is preferred.
  • Proficiency in qualitative and quantitative research and analysis, contract management, and report writing is advantageous.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, negotiation, and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and build consensus among partners.
