Position Overview:
The Lead Optical Systems Engineer will play a pivotal role in advancing innovative sensing technologies tailored for the food and agriculture industries. This key individual will immediately engage in the design of optical sensors utilizing free space optical components, ensuring that manufacturability is a primary consideration. Collaboration with the Director of Product Development will be essential to ensure that the designed optical elements integrate seamlessly into the final product.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience:

  • Doctorate in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field with a focus on optics, or a Master's degree accompanied by substantial industry experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years of practical experience in the design of free-space and integrated optical systems.
  • Familiarity with software/hardware interfacing is advantageous.

Technical Expertise:

  • In-depth knowledge and substantial experience with Zeemax, Code V, or similar software.
  • Proficient in Matlab with extensive practical application.
  • Expertise in establishing laboratory setups utilizing free space optical configurations.
  • Strong background in spectroscopy.
  • Understanding of integrated optical system design principles.
  • Experience with microfabrication processes is a plus.
