The successful candidate will design optical sensors based on free-space optical elements, considering manufacturability and collaborating closely with the Director of Product Development to ensure seamless integration.

Our sensing devices detect quality characteristics, and our software applications enhance device usability while providing intelligence to address customer needs. We disrupt the way food companies make critical business decisions by providing novel, predictive metrics, reducing food waste, and offering economic, social, and environmental benefits.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design optical sensors based on free-space optical elements, considering manufacturability and collaboration with the Director of Product Development.
  • Work closely with customers to ensure designed optical elements meet usability needs for seamless adoption.
  • Contribute to the development of sensing solutions for the food and agriculture sector.

Requirements:

  • Doctorate Degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or technical equivalent with a background in optics, or a Master's Degree with significant commercial/industry experience.
  • At least 5 years of hands-on experience in free-space and integrated optical systems design.
  • Experience with software/hardware interfacing is an asset.

Technical Knowledge:

  • Strong understanding and extensive experience with one of Zeemax, Code V, or equivalent software.
  • Strong understanding and extensive experience with Matlab.
  • Strong experience with setting up lab setups using free-space optical setups.
  • Strong experience and understanding of spectroscopy.
  • Understanding of integrated optical system designs.
  • Experience with Microfabrication processes is an asset.
