Your Work Environment at EXP

In this position, you will be part of our Halifax office while benefiting from our flexible hybrid work model. We have made substantial investments in our office environment to ensure it is bright, vibrant, technologically advanced, and conducive to collaboration.

No matter your physical location, you will have the opportunity to work seamlessly with EXP's multidisciplinary team on some of the most significant and exciting projects in Atlantic Canada. If desired, you will also have the chance to engage in unique and challenging projects beyond the region.

What a Typical Day at EXP Looks Like

  • Prepare essential drawings, specifications, and reports to successfully deliver projects.
  • Create project-specific details to clarify the scope and develop building sections to assist with coordination between various building systems.
  • Conduct calculations to size electrical services and prepare tailored equipment schedules, collaborating with project team members to ensure a complete and accurate design.
  • Manage internal and external communications regarding project or design status, reporting to the Buildings and Industrial Engineering manager and/or project manager.
  • Perform facility condition assessments, feasibility studies, design briefs, and options evaluations.
  • Develop design drawings using AutoCAD and REVIT.
  • Conduct field investigations, including building condition assessments and preliminary reports.
  • Carry out technical code and standard reviews, along with technical calculations to support building systems designs and reports.
  • Engage with clients, project stakeholders, and multidisciplinary team members through Microsoft Teams and other collaboration tools.
  • Support clients during the tendering and construction phases, including site inspections and monitoring contractor progress.

Your Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering with over 6 years of relevant experience in buildings and industrial projects.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng) licensed with Engineers Nova Scotia (ENS), or eligible for immediate registration.
  • Experience in preparing construction documents, including specifications and cost estimates.
  • A strong understanding of electrical design, construction, project management, and proposal preparation.
  • Familiarity with the national building code, CSA, and Canadian Electrical Code.
  • Proficiency in REVIT/BIM is considered a valuable asset.
  • Able to thrive in a deadline-driven environment, managing multiple projects and clients simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, etc.).
  • Experience with energy modeling and auditing for energy efficiency, renewable energy, power generation, LEED, and Green Globes is considered an asset.
