Position Overview

The Director of Marketing for HIV/AIDS will spearhead the formulation and implementation of the strategic business plan for the HIV/AIDS sector. This role encompasses the tactical execution and comprehensive promotion of the HIV franchise, which includes both treatment and prevention initiatives. You will be instrumental in shaping the lifecycle plan for HIV/AIDS and facilitating the introduction of new products and indications within this therapeutic area. Strong leadership capabilities are essential, as you will be expected to establish a clear vision, drive transformative change, achieve results, and manage both direct reports and a cross-functional therapeutic team. This position will report to the Senior Director of Marketing/Sales for HIV/AIDS.

Key Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate exceptional management skills to guide a cross-functional therapeutic team and senior marketing professionals. Proficient in performance management, strategic planning, prioritization, objective setting, recruitment, meeting facilitation, and execution of plans.
  • Leverage diverse information sources (e.g., primary and secondary market research, advisory boards, competitive intelligence) to derive insights critical to the development of franchise strategy and tactical plans.
  • Contribute to the establishment of the franchise strategy for HIV/AIDS, along with the overarching Brand Plan and Promotional Plan for Action (POA).
  • Oversee the creation of tactical plans, messaging, communication strategies, and other customer initiatives aligned with the field sales POA.
  • Direct the execution of the field sales POA, which includes the development of sales tools, collaboration with sales training, conducting sales meetings, and driving for measurable results.
  • Exhibit excellent communication skills, with the ability to present effectively, build credibility, foster trust, and influence stakeholders at all levels. Strong partnering skills and a results-oriented mindset are essential.
  • Possess outstanding organizational skills, with a focus on completing assignments efficiently and effectively.
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills to lead, engage, resolve conflicts, and drive consensus among diverse individuals from various backgrounds and disciplines.
  • Exhibit a commanding executive presence, with the ability to earn respect through sound business judgment and decisive decision-making.
  • Showcase excellence in project management, adeptly handling multiple projects and priorities.
  • Manage complex budgets effectively, with a solid understanding of revenue forecasting.
  • Cultivate external relationships that foster brand advocacy.
  • Proven track record in Direct-to-Patient marketing within the pharmaceutical or biotech sectors, with a strong grasp of expense budget planning and tracking.
  • Proficient in e-Marketing, with the ability to translate brand objectives into effective e-tactical plans.
  • Possess a deep understanding of digital media.

Knowledge, Experience & Skills

  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.
  • A bachelor's degree in marketing or a related field is required.
  • Advanced experience in product lifecycle management is preferred.
  • An advanced degree in a scientific field (MD, PharmD, PhD) or an advanced business degree (MBA) is desirable. Extensive knowledge and experience in pharmaceutical product lifecycle management across various therapeutic areas is preferred.
  • Prior experience in people management is strongly preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 years in product marketing or advertising focused on consumers or patients is required.
  • An MBA or equivalent is preferred.
  • Proficiency in e-Marketing is essential.
