Position Overview:
The Department of Psychiatry is seeking a qualified Psychiatrist to address the clinical needs within the community. This role involves collaboration with an inter-disciplinary team to ensure comprehensive care for clients.

Key Responsibilities:
As a Psychiatrist, you will be responsible for:

  • Conducting psychiatric evaluations and managing treatment plans for program participants.
  • Engaging in the planning and coordination of team services for clients.
  • Assessing new referrals and facilitating the intake process for accepted participants.
  • Providing psychiatric consultation to the HUB as necessary.
  • Identifying clients who may benefit from time-limited ACT supports.
  • Monitoring client needs and determining appropriate service levels.
  • Facilitating participant discharge from the program when suitable.
  • Offering clinical supervision and training to team members.
  • Developing and overseeing medication management and treatment protocols.
  • Coordinating with nursing staff for necessary medical follow-ups.
  • Arranging hospital admissions for clients when required and collaborating with hospital personnel.
  • Contributing to the development of recovery plans and ensuring their implementation.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with various health services and agencies.
  • Supervising residents and medical students during their rotations.
  • Participating in research and evaluative measures related to mental health.
  • Engaging in on-call duties as part of the team.
  • Attending staff meetings and contributing to program discussions.
  • Performing other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess a Doctor of Medicine Degree with a specialization in Psychiatry. Eligibility for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and registration with the local medical regulatory body is required.

Experience:
Applicants should have:

  • Strong clinical skills in treating individuals with severe mental health conditions.
  • Experience in psychosocial rehabilitation and recovery-oriented practices.
  • Clinical supervisory experience.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with severe mental health disorders and related fields.
  • Knowledge or research interests in severe mental illness.

Compensation:
Compensation will align with the established agreements for medical professionals. Specialty Physicians may be eligible for additional incentives.
