Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated Psychiatrist to join our inter-disciplinary team focused on providing comprehensive mental health services. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in overseeing the clinical management of clients within the Assertive Community Treatment (FACT) framework.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough psychiatric and medical evaluations, ensuring appropriate treatment plans are developed for program participants.
- Collaborate with team members to coordinate and enhance service delivery for individuals receiving care.
- Engage in the assessment of new referrals and facilitate the intake process for eligible participants.
- Provide psychiatric consultation and support to other team members as required.
- Monitor client progress and determine the need for additional support services.
- Participate in the discharge planning process to ensure a smooth transition for clients.
- Offer clinical supervision and training to staff, fostering a collaborative learning environment.
- Develop and uphold medication management policies and procedures.
- Oversee necessary medical follow-ups, including laboratory tests, in collaboration with nursing staff.
- Facilitate hospital admissions for clients when necessary and maintain communication with hospital personnel.
- Contribute to the development of recovery plans and ensure their effective implementation.
- Maintain productive relationships with other health services and governmental agencies.
- Supervise residents and medical students during their training rotations.
- Engage in research initiatives and evaluative measures related to mental health services.
- Participate in on-call duties as part of the team’s commitment to client care.
- Attend and contribute to team meetings and program discussions.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess a Doctor of Medicine Degree with a specialization in Psychiatry. Eligibility for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba is required.
Experience:
Applicants should demonstrate strong clinical skills in treating individuals with severe mental health conditions, alongside experience in psychosocial rehabilitation. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as is familiarity with severe mental illness, addictions, and intellectual disabilities.
Compensation:
Compensation will be aligned with the Doctors Manitoba agreement, with potential recruitment incentives for specialty physicians.
