Mississauga, Ontario, Canada The Martin-Brower Company, L.L.C. Full time

Position Overview:

The Interim Financial Officer will leverage robust leadership, accounting, and organizational expertise to bolster our Financial Services and Reporting teams, directly reporting to the Supervisor of Financial Services.

This role encompasses the responsibilities of a Compliance & Risk Analyst, which includes managing Key Performance Indicator (KPI) reporting, overseeing governmental relations, and facilitating annual contract and insurance renewals, all while ensuring that internal controls are consistently upheld and/or established.

Key responsibilities include coordinating the yearly insurance renewal process, providing quarterly updates for short-term rentals, and managing claims to guarantee compliance and adequate coverage.

Additionally, the officer will lead and execute assigned interim and year-end audits within the team and may assist with other audits as necessary, including but not limited to internal audits, tax assessments, and various governmental agency requirements.

Responsibilities also involve completing quarterly fuel tax reporting to ensure adherence to regulations and compiling essential data for the monthly Global KPI report for management review.

Monthly reconciliations related to insurance and claims will be executed, collaborating with stakeholders to ensure all expenses are substantiated and accurately documented.

Moreover, the officer will handle all Statistics Canada reporting related to sales, payroll, fixed assets, and maintain national records for all tractor and trailer ownership registrations.

It is essential to respond to property tax assessments and appeals for owned or leased facilities, notifying relevant stakeholders of any issues.

Ensuring compliance with all Safe Food for Canadians Regulations (SFCR), Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI), and Good Warehouse Practices (GWP) and Good Drivers Practices (GDP) is also a critical aspect of this role.

Other projects or duties may be assigned as needed.

Qualifications include a Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Business or Accounting, along with a minimum of 2 years of accounting experience.

The ability to work flexible hours is necessary, and reasonable accommodations may be provided to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

Due to the nature of the business, factors such as delivery schedules, order inputs, selection, and Department of Transportation Hours of Service make overtime, attendance, and punctuality essential job functions.

Individuals in this classification who may require accommodations due to a disability should contact their Human Resources department to explore potential reasonable adjustments.
