Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Support Worker to join our team at WJS Canada. As a Residential Community Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with complex needs in a residential community setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement individualized support plans to promote the goals and aspirations of clients.
  • Provide emotional support and guidance to clients, encouraging them to overcome challenges and achieve their full potential.
  • Assist clients with daily living tasks, such as household chores, meal preparation, and personal care.
  • Model healthy relationships and boundaries, promoting positive behaviors and social skills.
  • Transport clients to appointments and activities, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive support services.
Requirements
  • Diploma or degree in a related field, such as Child and Youth Care, Psychology, Social Work, or Disability Studies.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience working with individuals with complex needs, preferably in a community-based setting.
  • Valid BC Driver's Class 5 License and clean driver's abstract.
  • Reliable, safe vehicle with appropriate insurance (an asset).
  • Positive behavior supports experience and Trauma-informed care (an asset).
  • Valid CPR/First Aid, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Certificate (Mandt), and Conflict Resolution Certificate (or ability to obtain within probation period).
  • Physician's note confirming suitability, including immunization records and negative tuberculosis screening test.
