We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Support Worker to join our team at WJS Canada. As a Residential Community Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with complex needs in a residential community setting.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement individualized support plans to promote the goals and aspirations of clients.
- Provide direct support to clients in daily living activities, including household chores, meal preparation, and personal care.
- Assist clients in developing life skills, such as budgeting, time management, and social skills.
- Model healthy relationships and boundaries, promoting positive behavior and emotional well-being.
- Transport clients to appointments and participate in recreational activities, promoting socialization and community integration.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive support and care for clients.
- Diploma or degree in a related field, such as Child and Youth Care, Psychology, Social Work, or Disability Studies.
- Minimum 2 years of experience working with individuals with complex needs, including developmental disabilities, mental health issues, or brain injuries.
- Valid BC Driver's Class 5 License and clean driver's abstract with a reliable, safe vehicle.
- Positive behavior supports experience and Trauma-informed care an asset.
- Valid CPR/First Aid, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Certificate (NVCI, Mandt or CPI), and Conflict Resolution Certificate (or ability to obtain within probation period).
- Physician's note confirming suitability, including immunization records and negative tuberculosis screening test.
