We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Support Worker to join our team at WJS Canada. As a Residential Community Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with complex needs in a residential community setting.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement individualized support plans to promote the goals and aspirations of clients.
- Provide emotional support and guidance to clients, encouraging them to overcome challenges and achieve their full potential.
- Assist clients with daily living tasks, such as household chores, meal preparation, and personal care.
- Model healthy relationships and boundaries, promoting positive behavior and social skills.
- Transport clients to appointments and participate in recreational activities, fostering a sense of community and connection.
- Diploma or degree in a relevant field, such as Child and Youth Care, Psychology, Social Work, or Disability Studies.
- Minimum 2 years of experience working with individuals with complex needs, mental health issues, or developmental disabilities.
- Valid BC Driver's Class 5 License and clean driver's abstract.
- Reliable vehicle with appropriate insurance (an asset).
- Positive behavior supports experience and Trauma-informed care (an asset).
- CPR/First Aid, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Certificate (NVCI, Mandt or CPI), and Conflict Resolution Certificate (or ability to obtain within probation period).
- Physician's note confirming suitability, including immunization records and negative tuberculosis screening test.
