Position Overview

In your role as an Electrical Engineer at our hydroelectric facilities, you will apply your engineering expertise to ensure the efficient, safe, and economical operation of our generating stations.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Lead and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to plan and implement projects.
  2. Oversee engineering initiatives aimed at maintaining and upgrading our hydroelectric facilities.
  3. Manage relationships with engineering consultants and specialists.
  4. Analyze operational challenges, assess technical options, and identify optimal solutions to meet our operational and business objectives.
  5. Prepare cost estimates and define project scope, budget, and timelines.
  6. Coordinate with engineering consultants to develop comprehensive construction documentation.
  7. Engage in engineering assessments to troubleshoot and provide recommendations for operational challenges.
  8. Identify and report safety risks associated with equipment maintenance.
  9. Offer operational support to internal stakeholders.
  10. Deliver engineering services related to the design and specifications of hydroelectric generating equipment.
  11. Stay updated on design standards, materials, and processes through industry literature and events.
Year 1 Objectives
  1. Gain familiarity with our standards, guidelines, and practices relevant to your role.
  2. Work alongside Project Management and Operations to understand our business operations.
  3. Support efforts to enhance and optimize our hydroelectric facilities.
  4. Develop a solid understanding of equipment maintenance based on condition assessments.
Year 2 Objectives
  1. Assume key responsibilities independently with minimal supervision.
Qualifications
  1. Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.
  2. Experience in the design or operation of hydroelectric facilities is advantageous.
  3. Must fulfill registration criteria for Professional Engineering status.
  4. Understanding of the electrical utility sector is beneficial.
  5. Field experience is a plus.
  6. Project management experience is an asset.
  7. Experience working in multidisciplinary engineering teams is valuable.
  8. Knowledge of PLC programming is considered an asset.
  9. Proven knowledge of project management processes in engineering design is preferred.
  10. Familiarity with safe work practices, policies, and procedures is essential.
  11. Proficiency in commonly used software such as MS Office, MS Project, and SharePoint is required.
