Job Summary

FortisBC is seeking a highly skilled Relief System Operator to join our team in the System Control Centre. As a Relief System Operator, you will be responsible for relieving the System Operator and performing duties normally carried out by a lower classification employee.

Key Responsibilities

  • Learn and perform the duties of the System Operator, including operating and maintaining the electrical power grid.
  • Perform duties normally carried out by a lower classification employee, such as assisting with system operations and maintenance.
  • Work cooperatively with fellow employees to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the power grid.
  • Exercise good judgment and handle the stress of the operating job, especially during emergencies.

Requirements

  • NERC certification.
  • Diploma in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Technology program.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate clearly with colleagues and management.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing circumstances.
