Job Summary

FortisBC is seeking a highly skilled Relief System Operator to join our System Control Centre (SCC) Operating team. As a Relief System Operator, you will be responsible for relieving the System Operator and performing duties normally carried out by a lower classification employee.

Key Responsibilities

  • Learn and perform the duties of the System Operator, including operating and maintaining the electrical power grid.
  • Perform duties such as monitoring and controlling the power grid, responding to emergencies, and coordinating with other departments.
  • Work cooperatively with fellow employees and deal courteously with the public via telephone.
  • Have the potential, ability, and intent to progress to higher classification in the Control Centre.

Requirements

  • NERC certification.
  • Diploma in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Technology program.
  • Capable of exercising good judgment and handling the stress of the operating job, especially during emergencies.
