Position Overview:

We are seeking dedicated Housing Support Workers for our Community Homes for Opportunity Program. If you are a collaborative and innovative professional passionate about assisting individuals in overcoming mental health challenges, enhancing their independence, and securing housing, this role may be a perfect fit for you. We value your expertise in supporting individuals in their living environments to promote their health, wellness, and daily activities.

Employment Type: Full-time, 35 hours per week, with potential evening and weekend hours.

Salary Range: $54,800 - $58,700 per annum, commensurate with experience.

Work Environment:

The Housing Support Worker will have a hybrid work arrangement, combining remote work with community engagement. This role involves direct client interaction and collaboration with colleagues.

Role Responsibilities:

The Housing Support Worker will operate within community-based residential settings, collaborating with clients to provide tailored support and wellness planning. The primary focus is to assist clients in maintaining their housing, engaging with the community, managing budgets, and accessing necessary resources to enhance their independence and recovery.

Clients will be guided to identify their strengths and needs, establish long-term goals, and create actionable steps through personalized wellness plans. The Housing Support Worker will also engage in advocacy efforts to improve resource accessibility and availability. Collaboration with Housing Administrators and Home Operators is essential, as this role is part of a multidisciplinary team.

Adherence to organizational policies and ethical standards is crucial, along with effective communication, teamwork, and decision-making skills.

Qualifications:

  • A degree or diploma in health or social services
  • Current registration with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW)
  • Relevant experience in community-based organizations supporting adults with serious mental health issues
  • Familiarity with congregate living environments and support housing is preferred
  • Knowledge of mental health legislation and recovery-oriented practices
  • Proficiency in a second language relevant to the community is an asset
  • A valid Canadian Full G driver's license and appropriate insurance coverage
  • A satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Screening (Police Check)

Working Conditions:

The role involves office work, community interactions, client home visits, and travel for client support.
