Position: Project Technician/Construction Surveyor

Key Responsibilities:

The Project Technician/Construction Surveyor will collaborate with team members to execute tasks related to rehabilitation, construction within existing Transfer Stations, and conveyor installations in the Conveyor Ramp. The primary responsibilities include:

  • Developing construction layouts for anchor bolt placements, grid lines, formwork, concrete piers, and footings in subterranean settings.
  • Conducting surveys and verifying column verticality using a total station during the erection of structural steel in underground environments.
  • Establishing layout for hanger placements.
  • Assisting with the alignment of overhead crane rails during installation.
  • Preparing mark-ups for rehabilitation tasks.
  • Performing routine survey checks to maintain precision and accuracy in mine survey data, ensuring control points and survey stations are properly integrated.
  • Setting up new survey stations as necessary.
  • Assisting in creating red line mark-ups throughout the construction process.
  • Conducting regular survey reporting for underground construction and rehabilitation projects.
  • Formulating and implementing processes and procedures.
  • Supporting QA/QC personnel as needed.
  • Generating daily and weekly reports when required.
  • Specifying and procuring materials and supplies necessary for surveying.
  • Undertaking additional duties as assigned.

General Duties:

  • Complying with company policies and adhering to the Occupational Health and Safety Act and local regulations.
  • Maintaining a safe and efficient working environment.
  • Actively participating in the team safety program focused on culture and innovation.
  • Ensuring that any damaged or unsafe equipment is reported and not utilized.
  • Collaborating with crew members to achieve synergy for shift operations.
  • Understanding and adhering to applicable procedures and work standards at all times.
  • Maintaining high standards of cleanliness in the workplace.
  • Utilizing all safety systems as outlined in the site safety management framework.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of pre-employment drug, alcohol, and medical testing.
  • Successful Criminal Record Check.
  • Mining Technician Diploma with experience in underground construction and mine surveying.
  • Completion of Basic Underground Common Core training.
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant underground mine surveying experience.
  • Proficiency in mine engineering software such as Mine Cad Software, AutoCAD, Total Station, and MOSS.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Knowledge of WHMIS and Fall Arrest protocols.
  • Familiarity with Lifesaver TM-60 (self-rescuer).
  • Exemplary personal integrity.
  • Awareness of innovative technologies including Mine CAD Software, AutoCAD, Total Station, and MOSS.
  • Strong organizational skills coupled with effective oral and written communication abilities.
  • Experience in underground construction surveying.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently in remote settings; self-motivated.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Capacity to prioritize tasks effectively to meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
