Position Overview: The Lead Survey Technician serves as a senior leader within a field survey team, proficient in communicating, executing, and instructing daily assigned tasks. Responsibilities include a variety of field duties such as boundary surveys, aerial control, topographic data collection, mapping, construction staking, scanning, and utility as-builts. This experienced individual is capable of operating and training others in the use of all field equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret plans and plats, comprehend legal descriptions, perform field calculations, and execute routine surveying tasks (including topographic surveying, construction staking, and boundary/control surveys).
- Maintain accurate note-taking skills, including the ability to sketch intricate details observed in the field to effectively communicate essential information to office staff.
- Manage the downloading and uploading of electronic files and photographs, and scan field notes and documentation for daily assignments.
- Navigate county websites to access record maps, field notes, and monument records.
- Conduct 3D Laser scanning of both interior and exterior spaces; register laser scan data.
- Confidently execute laser scan measurements, including project setup, basic measurements, and site control.
- Download, register, and input point cloud data into 3D software.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Possession of an LSIT license is preferred.
- A minimum of 5 years of field experience in land surveying and a general understanding of field survey equipment and practices.
- Demonstrated ability to lead a survey team, including managing and mentoring junior staff.
- Proficient in reviewing field data and creating staking calculations using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Must be physically capable of carrying heavy loads (approximately 30 pounds).
- Willingness to accommodate occasional unforeseen and demanding schedules.
