Position Overview

We are seeking dedicated and proactive individuals to join our team as Cellar Hand II at Arterra Wines Canada, Inc.. This role is perfect for those who excel in collaborative settings and prefer a dynamic, hands-on work environment.

Our winery operates year-round, managing the entire process from grape harvest to the final distribution of our award-winning wines. We pride ourselves on fostering a supportive and cooperative workplace, providing the necessary systems and structure to facilitate growth and career advancement.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Grape Processing: Involves receiving grapes and juice, destemming, crushing, and pressing.
  • Fermentation Oversight: Includes inoculations, nutrient additions, sampling, pump overs, punch downs, sugar monitoring, and cleaning fermenters.
  • Cellar Operations: Encompasses barrel work, racking, product transfers, blending, and additions.
  • Sanitation: Responsible for cleaning tanks, barrels, and general maintenance of the facility and equipment.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols as outlined in standard operating procedures.
  • Complete work orders and ensure compliance with operational standards.
  • Operate cellar forklifts and other winery machinery safely (training will be provided).
  • Manage inventory effectively.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent is mandatory.
  • Strong dedication to quality and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Candidates should be hands-on, reliable, and self-motivated.
  • Basic problem-solving skills and logistical understanding are essential.
  • Must be willing to undergo training for confined space entry procedures.
  • Familiarity with winery cellar operations is preferred.
  • Strong teamwork and customer service abilities.
  • Availability for shift work, including weekends.
  • Competence in performing basic mathematical calculations.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Maintain an organized and tidy workspace.
  • Capability to lift up to 55 lbs.
