Role Overview

The Ecommerce Warehouse Operations Leader will oversee the fulfilment processes within our Ecommerce and Retail sector. This role requires a proficient multitasker who will manage the receiving, handling, storage, picking, and packing functions of the warehouse, ensuring that quality benchmarks are consistently met or surpassed. The leader will coordinate order fulfilment and enhance packing standards to guarantee order accuracy and secure delivery. Maintaining inventory precision is essential to ensure orders are processed correctly and stock discrepancies are minimized. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, people-focused, and capable of managing various aspects of warehouse operations concurrently.

By implementing best-practice policies and procedures, the role holder will guide the teams through effective delegation and resource management. Responsibilities will include delivering on the business plan, monitoring costs, accurately measuring key performance indicators, achieving targets, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and reduce per-order costs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure optimal warehouse performance with a primary focus on customer satisfaction.
  • Achieve or exceed productivity targets and order fulfilment KPIs at both warehouse and individual levels.
  • Plan workloads on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis, incorporating planning for events, promotions, and seasonal fluctuations.
  • Document and review standard operating procedures, ensuring daily compliance with all food safety regulations.
  • Adopt a continuous improvement mindset towards warehouse operations and systems by optimizing product handling, storage needs, equipment use, inventory management, and IT processes.
  • Train and manage the warehouse team to address daily operational challenges and achieve both short- and long-term performance objectives.
  • Minimize stock loss through accurate receiving and storage processes, picking accuracy, daily inventory checks, and comprehensive monthly stock counts followed by variance analysis.
  • Generate performance and throughput reports with analysis to identify short- and medium-term trends.
  • Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by establishing and enforcing standards and procedures, complying with legal regulations, and ensuring timely completion of training refreshers.
  • Manage HR-related activities, including rota planning, absence management, timesheet approvals, and related HR system requirements.
  • Raise, approve, and process purchase orders related to departmental expenses.
  • Monitor stock levels and procure operational consumables, including packaging materials.
  • Coordinate and ensure the delivery of operational support activities, including risk assessments, SOP management, security, waste management, cleaning, property maintenance, and equipment supplies.
  • Facilitate continuous professional development and performance assessment of team members through an effective framework of objective setting and regular reviews.
  • Support the Head of Logistics with departmental initiatives and projects, acting as a deputy in their absence.

What We Are Looking For

  • A minimum of 5 years of proven experience in logistics operations management.
  • Experience in scaling operational output and efficiency through restructuring of labor, equipment, and facilities on demand.
  • Successful implementation and management of specialized warehouse management, distribution, and procurement software systems.
  • Strong confidence in managing complex processes, streamlining, and automating for efficiency and cost reduction.
  • High numerical literacy and a data-driven approach to decision-making through effective measurement and assessment of operational performance.
  • Proactive with excellent interpersonal skills, capable of communicating with team members and stakeholders at all levels.
  • FLT experience – counterbalance (required) and Flexi truck (desired).
  • Intermediate or advanced knowledge of Excel.
