Position Overview

Reporting to the Team Leader and collaborating with the nursing staff as part of an interdisciplinary team, the Life Skills Worker plays a crucial role in assisting clients with mental, developmental, and/or physical challenges to thrive within the community. This position involves working closely with the Mental Health team to implement tailored psychosocial rehabilitation (PSR) and recovery strategies that cater to each client's unique needs. You will provide essential daily support, including physical, emotional, and social advocacy, as well as personal life skills training and coaching.

Your responsibilities will include facilitating client participation in daily living activities such as light housekeeping, personal laundry, and collaborative meal preparation. Additionally, you will offer transportation services for clients to attend events, outings, appointments, and programs.

The Life Skills Worker is expected to engage clients and their support networks as integral partners in the planning and evaluation of services.


Work Schedule: Shifts include Days and Evenings, from 07:00 to 15:00 and 15:00 to 23:00 (Rotating)

Qualifications

  • Completion of a recognized Social Services Support Worker educational program, with two (2) years of recent, relevant experience working with individuals facing severe and persistent mental health challenges, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Current CPR Level C and Food Safe certifications.
  • Valid Class V BC Driver's License.
