Role Responsibilities

As the Director of Municipal Infrastructure, you will:

  • Oversee the Municipal Infrastructure Programs team, ensuring effective design, implementation, and evaluation of annual funding initiatives.
  • Lead the Strategic Initiatives team in developing asset management strategies and assessing the current and future requirements of municipal infrastructure.
  • Establish and nurture partnerships to optimize infrastructure investments, addressing the needs of various stakeholders.

Key Accountabilities

In this leadership role, you will be tasked with a range of essential responsibilities aimed at maximizing municipal funding programs and promoting effective infrastructure management practices. You will guide multidisciplinary teams and serve as a principal advisor to senior leadership, providing insights and innovative solutions.

Your primary accountabilities will include:

  • Ensuring the strategic design and management of funding programs, incorporating equitable measures and accountability.
  • Negotiating agreements and funding conditions with federal and provincial partners, while researching national priorities to advocate for Nova Scotia's interests.
  • Implementing strategies for municipal infrastructure management, fostering partnerships for capacity building, and representing the province on relevant committees.
  • Promoting team collaboration through inspirational leadership, effective communication, and a supportive work environment.
  • Overseeing budget preparation and monitoring, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Managing program information flow and providing expert-level advice to stakeholders.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor's degree in business, engineering, or a related discipline, along with extensive experience in program delivery, including project monitoring and financial oversight. Proven leadership experience in designing and implementing programs, as well as managing high-performing teams, is essential.

Your background should encompass government, private sector, non-profit, and community organizations, equipping you to drive impactful initiatives. You are recognized for your strategic mindset and ability to stay informed about industry trends, leveraging a robust network of contacts. Your innovative leadership approach will ensure alignment with legislative and policy frameworks.

In this role, you will adeptly navigate politically sensitive projects, utilizing strong negotiation skills to represent the interests of Nova Scotians effectively. Building and managing relationships with various stakeholders is crucial for success in this position.
