OVERVIEW

We are seeking a dedicated Physiotherapist Assistant to deliver rehabilitation services to residents in a Long-Term Care environment. You will collaborate closely with the supervising Physiotherapist to implement tailored treatment plans aimed at enhancing residents' functional independence.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Execute assigned tasks from the supervising Physiotherapist while maintaining regular communication to ensure high-quality care for residents. Adhere to Resident- and Family-centered Care Plans, executing assigned responsibilities effectively. Implement treatment strategies to meet Resident and Family objectives in areas such as transfers, ambulation, strength, range of motion, balance, and cardiorespiratory function. Facilitate group exercise sessions for residents. Maintain and sanitize rehabilitation equipment to ensure a safe environment. Engage in continuous quality improvement initiatives, including tracking measurable outcomes, gathering satisfaction feedback, and participating in quality enhancement planning.

QUALIFICATIONS

Completion of a 2-year Diploma from an accredited OTA/PTA Program or equivalent. Successful completion of a Police Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) upon hiring. Current vaccinations, including 3 doses of COVID-19, influenza vaccine (or commitment to antiviral medications), MMR, DTaP, varicella, and TB skin test. Knowledge and experience in evidence-based practices related to musculoskeletal, neurological, and cardiorespiratory rehabilitation, with a focus on improving functional outcomes. Excellent communication and clinical reasoning abilities; adaptable to evolving demands and schedules. Demonstrated compassion and care in all interactions with residents and their families.

Desirable attributes include prior experience in delivering rehabilitation services to the geriatric population within an integrated care framework, particularly in a Long-Term Care setting. Familiarity with rehabilitation equipment, including transfer aids, wheelchairs, pain management tools, and strength/range of motion/balance devices, is advantageous.
