Job Summary:

Brightshores is seeking a highly skilled Speech Language Pathologist to join our Community Stroke Rehabilitation Team. As a key member of our interprofessional team, you will be responsible for providing expert speech and language services to stroke survivors in Grey and Bruce Counties.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive speech and language assessments and interventions to stroke survivors in their homes and communities.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals, caregivers, and families to develop and implement individualized rehabilitation plans.
  • Conduct clinical assessments of swallowing and provide expertise in dysphagia management.
  • Develop and deliver education and training programs for service providers, caregivers, and families on stroke rehabilitation best practices.
  • Participate in interprofessional team meetings and contribute to the development of innovative rehabilitation services.

Requirements:

  • Member in good standing of the College of Audiologists and Speech and Language Pathologists of Ontario.
  • Master's degree or equivalent in Speech Language Pathology.
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support certification.
  • Clinical expertise and experience in stroke rehabilitation and demonstrated knowledge of current stroke rehabilitation best practices.
  • Experience in clinical assessment of swallowing.
  • Experience in working in a community setting.
  • Experience in working in an interprofessional team with a demonstrated ability to practice effectively in an inter-professional collaborative environment.
  • Understanding of the role and responsibilities of varied rehabilitation professionals in the provision of stroke rehabilitation.
  • Working knowledge and experience with theories and principles of guiding adult learning and patient self-management approaches.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, problem-solving, and innovation skills.
  • Proven flexibility and a high level of initiative.
  • Ability to work with and direct support personnel.
  • Appreciation of resource utilization and comfortable working in a virtual environment.
  • Demonstrated excellent ability to utilize Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • A valid Ontario driver's license and a reliable insured vehicle.
  • Ability to work all shifts, including weekends; ability for multi-site coverage when required.
  • Recent satisfactory performance and attendance records.
  • Adherence to Brightshores' CARE Behaviours and LEAD Competencies.
