The VPFA (Vice President Finance and Administration) plays a pivotal role in delivering essential support services that align with SFU's academic, research, and community engagement objectives. Our team addresses the daily operational and administrative requirements through various departments, including Ancillary Services, Facilities Services, Finance, IT Services, and Safety & Risk Services. We engage collaboratively and respectfully with our community partners to enhance the lives of those we serve while fostering a vibrant workplace culture for our staff.

Position Overview

The Event Coordination Assistant provides vital client service and administrative support for Meeting, Events, and Conference Services (MECS). Responsibilities include preparing meeting spaces for client use, assisting with modifications to on-site requirements, creating room layout diagrams, and directing clients and materials to designated areas. This role is crucial in welcoming clients on-site and offering basic campus orientation. The assistant collaborates with Facilities Services, IT Services, catering, security, and other service providers to monitor and resolve operational issues that may arise during events. Additionally, this position offers primary support to Event Planners and Managers in executing campus events.

Required Qualifications

High School diploma along with relevant training in word processing, database management, and spreadsheet applications, typically equivalent to one semester of study. A minimum of two years of experience is preferred, although a combination of education and experience may be considered.
