Position Overview

We are currently in search of a Finishing Superintendent to oversee our projects in a dynamic urban environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that all interior finishes are executed in alignment with the construction schedule, budgetary constraints, and quality assurance standards.
  • Support the Superintendent in managing the execution of interior finishes, ensuring compliance with all contract documents, plans, specifications, and shop drawings.
  • Coordinate with the Superintendent to enhance productivity among all personnel on-site, including trade contractors and suppliers.
  • Assist in the preparation of weekly production schedules and adjust as necessary to meet project deadlines.
  • Collaborate with the Superintendent and Construction Project Manager to address any inadequacies in contracts, plans, and specifications.
  • Review trade contracts and scopes of work for compliance with project requirements.
  • Examine drawings for accuracy, construction detailing, and feasibility.
  • Manage cost control measures, including purchasing and preparing related purchase orders.
  • Ensure adherence to safety protocols and practices on-site at all times.
  • Facilitate and document regular trade meetings with the Superintendent.
  • Work with the Superintendent to identify and resolve conflicts within project teams, creating contingency plans to mitigate risks.
  • Maintain organized documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in a construction-related field is preferred.
  • A minimum of 6 years of direct experience in construction, with at least 4 years in a supervisory or project management role.
  • Gold Seal accreditation and/or Red Seal Carpenter certification is advantageous.
  • Proficient in reading blueprints, schematics, and plans.
  • Strong understanding of residential construction trades and techniques.
  • Excellent management, delegation, planning, and leadership skills.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and productivity standards in construction.
  • Familiarity with compliance regulations at local, provincial, and federal levels.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to health and safety practices in the workplace.
  • Proven leadership abilities with a track record of successful interactions with clients and stakeholders.
  • Results-driven with the capacity to manage multiple priorities and timelines.
  • Understanding of contract fundamentals and experience managing contractors.
  • Knowledge of OH&S regulations and residential building codes.
  • Demonstrated success in project delivery and execution of management methodologies.
  • Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
  • Reputation for integrity and professionalism.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to implement cost control measures effectively.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license.
  • First Aid certification is a plus.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
