Position Overview

We are currently seeking an experienced Finishing Superintendent for our projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that interior finishes are completed in alignment with the construction schedule, budget controls, and contract specifications while adhering to quality assurance and quality control standards.
  • Support the Superintendent in executing interior finishes according to contract documents, sub-contracts, plans, specifications, and shop drawings, including managing changes to the work.
  • Coordinate with the Superintendent to oversee and enhance the productivity of all personnel on-site, including trade contractors, suppliers, and laborers, ensuring adherence to contracts and specifications.
  • Assist in preparing weekly production schedules and look-ahead plans, adjusting work schedules as necessary to meet deadlines.
  • Collaborate with the Superintendent and Construction Project Manager to address any inadequacies in contracts, plans, and specifications regarding finish details.
  • Review and enforce trade contracts and scopes of work for alignment with project requirements.
  • Examine drawings for dimensional errors, construction detailing, and overall constructability.
  • Manage cost control measures, including purchasing and preparing purchase orders for personal acquisitions.
  • Ensure compliance with safe work practices and procedures on-site at all times.
  • Attend, lead, and document regular trade meetings with the Superintendent.
  • Work with the Superintendent to identify and resolve conflicts within project teams, creating contingency plans to mitigate risks.
  • Maintain organized and accurate documentation.
  • Perform any additional duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in a construction-related field is preferred.
  • A minimum of 6 years of direct experience in construction, with at least 4 years in supervisory or project management roles.
  • Gold Seal accreditation and/or Red Seal Carpenter certification is an asset.
  • Proficient in reading blueprints, schematics, field drawings, and plans.
  • Strong understanding of all residential construction trades and techniques.
  • Excellent management, delegation, planning, and leadership skills.
  • Proven effectiveness in construction safety and productivity.
  • Knowledge of local, provincial, and federal workplace compliance regulations relevant to the construction industry.
  • Commitment to teamwork with established team-building abilities.
  • Strong communication, integration, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
  • Dedication to health and safety in the workplace.
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities with a successful track record in customer relations.
  • Results-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities and timelines effectively.
  • Understanding of contract fundamentals and experience managing contractors.
  • Knowledge of OH&S regulations and relevant residential building codes.
  • Proven success in project delivery and execution of project management methodologies.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse staff, including laborers, technical professionals, and management.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Possession of a valid driver's license.
  • First Aid certification is considered an asset.
