Position: Director of Operations, Medical Affairs
Salary Range: $119,068 - $140,080 - $161,092 annually
Employment Type: Permanent
Work Hours: Standard (37.5 hours per week)
Work Arrangement: Hybrid - (Remote within BC, near an FNHA office)

Role Overview
In the capacity of Director of Operations, you will spearhead the operational leadership of medical personnel, encompassing governance, credentialing, and contracting, in alignment with federal and provincial regulations, policies, and procedures. This role entails leading the formulation and execution of human resource strategies, which include organizational structures, recruitment processes, compensation frameworks, and cultural safety standards relevant to the hiring of medical professionals for Primary Care initiatives led by BC First Nations. Furthermore, you will provide strategic oversight in the planning and execution of medical administration projects related to physician services within these initiatives. You will also cultivate and sustain strategic partnerships with the provincial Ministry of Health and all provincial health authorities, as well as Indigenous Services Canada and Health Canada, to advance medical governance issues while ensuring the integration of medical staff perspectives in project planning and decision-making.

Candidate Profile
To excel in this position, you should possess:

Educational Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree in Public Health Administration, Health Care Administration, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master's degree is considered an asset.

Professional Experience

Significant and relevant experience in collaboration with Medical Staff. Extensive experience within BC's healthcare system, typically accumulated over 8-10 years. Proven experience working with Indigenous communities and organizations in health and wellness. Experience in planning, supervising, and evaluating health programs and services. Background in medical affairs and/or medical staff governance is highly advantageous.

Knowledge Base

Comprehensive understanding of FNHA's operations and the health and wellness governance framework in BC concerning First Nations. Detailed knowledge of Physician compensation structures, the Physician Master Agreement, Joint Standing Committees, and contract templates. Familiarity with Nurse Practitioners' contracts and compensation models. In-depth knowledge of the health and wellness needs of First Nations and the social determinants of health in BC, including insights from the In Plain Sight report. Awareness of the Primary Care landscape in BC, particularly regarding BC First Nation-led initiatives. Understanding of Public Health systems and Indigenous health frameworks in BC.
