Position: Chief Operations Officer, Medical Affairs

Salary: $119,068 - $140,080 - $161,092 annually (detailed pay range below)
Contract: Permanent
Hours: Standard (37.5 hours per week)
Location: Hybrid - (Remote work within BC, near an FNHA office)

Role Overview

In the capacity of Chief Operations Officer, you will spearhead the operational management of medical personnel, ensuring compliance with relevant federal and provincial regulations, policies, and protocols. This role encompasses the development and execution of human resource strategies, including organizational frameworks, qualification standards, recruitment processes, compensation structures, and cultural safety initiatives pertinent to the recruitment of medical professionals in Primary Care projects led by BC First Nations. Additionally, you will provide strategic oversight in the planning and execution of medical administration initiatives aimed at enhancing physician service delivery within these projects. Your role will also involve cultivating and maintaining strategic partnerships with the provincial Ministry of Health, provincial health authorities, Indigenous Services Canada, and Health Canada, focusing on advancing medical governance and integrating the perspectives of medical staff into project planning and decision-making.

Candidate Profile

To excel in this position, you should possess:

Education
- A Bachelor's degree in Public Health Administration, Health Care Administration, Business Administration, or a related field.
- A Master's degree is preferred.

Experience
- Significant and relevant experience in collaboration with Medical Staff.
- Extensive experience within BC's healthcare system (typically 8-10 years).
- Proven experience working with Indigenous communities and organizations in health and wellness.
- Demonstrated ability in planning, supervising, and evaluating health programs and services.
- Experience in medical affairs and/or medical staff governance is highly advantageous.

Knowledge
- Comprehensive understanding of FNHA's operations and the health landscape in BC concerning First Nations.
- In-depth knowledge of physician compensation frameworks, the Physician Master Agreement, and related contract templates.
- Familiarity with Nurse Practitioners' contracts and compensation models.
- Awareness of the health and wellness needs of First Nations and the social determinants of health in BC, including insights from the In Plain Sight report.
- Knowledge of the Primary Care framework in BC, particularly regarding First Nation-led initiatives.
- Understanding of Public Health systems and Indigenous health frameworks in BC.

The pay range represents the minimum and maximum annual salary based on full-time equivalent hours. Typically, new hires, transfers, or promotions occur between the minimum and midpoint of the range, based on relevant knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience. The top 10% of the pay range is reserved for individuals who are recognized industry experts with exceptional experience and competencies.
