Position: Senior Operations Director, Medical Affairs

Salary: $119,068 - $140,080 - $161,092 annually (detailed pay range below)
Contract: Permanent
Hours: Standard (37.5 hours per week)
Location: Hybrid - (Remote work available within BC)

Role Overview

In the capacity of Senior Operations Director, you will oversee the operational management of medical personnel, ensuring compliance with federal and provincial regulations, policies, and procedures. This role involves spearheading the formulation and execution of human resource strategies, which encompass organizational structures, qualification standards, recruitment processes, compensation frameworks, and cultural safety protocols related to the recruitment of medical professionals for Primary Care initiatives led by BC First Nations. Additionally, you will guide the planning and execution of medical administration strategies that facilitate the provision of physician services within these projects. You will also cultivate and maintain strategic partnerships with the provincial Ministry of Health and various health authorities, as well as Indigenous Services Canada and Health Canada, to advance medical governance issues while ensuring that the perspectives of medical staff are integrated into project planning and decision-making.

Candidate Profile

To excel in this position, you should possess the following qualifications:

Education
- A Bachelor's degree in Public Health Administration, Health Care Administration, Business Administration, or a related field.
- A Master's degree is advantageous.

Experience
- Substantial and relevant experience working with medical personnel.
- Extensive experience within BC's healthcare system (typically 8-10 years).
- Experience collaborating with Indigenous communities and organizations in health and wellness.
- Proven experience in planning, supervising, and evaluating healthcare programs and services.
- Experience in medical affairs and/or medical staff governance is highly desirable.

Knowledge
- Comprehensive understanding of FNHA's operations and the health and wellness landscape in BC concerning First Nations.
- In-depth knowledge of physician compensation structures, the Physician Master Agreement, Joint Standing Committees, and contract frameworks.
- Familiarity with Nurse Practitioners' contracts and compensation models.
- Insight into the health and wellness needs of First Nations and the social determinants of health in BC, including the recommendations from the In Plain Sight report.
- Awareness of the Primary Care landscape in BC, particularly regarding BC First Nation-led initiatives.
- Understanding of Public Health systems and Indigenous health frameworks in BC.

The salary range reflects the minimum and maximum annual compensation based on full-time equivalent hours. New hires are typically positioned between the minimum and midpoint of the range, based on their knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience relative to the role requirements. The top 10% of the pay range is reserved for individuals who are industry experts with exceptional experience and competencies necessary to excel in this role.
