As an Assistant Manager of Finance and Commercial Risk, you will play a pivotal role in our Winnipeg office:

Key Responsibilities
  • Take a senior position in managing all financial matters, which includes monthly operational reporting, quarterly financial assessments, mid-year and year-end business planning, financial reviews, and year-end accounting.
  • Analyze monthly forecasts, district/project recoveries, and various reconciliations.
  • Collaborate with project and pursuit teams to identify, communicate, and manage financial and insurance-related risks and opportunities.
  • Assist in the implementation, monitoring, and compliance with company and project insurance policies and procedures.
  • Evaluate, coordinate, and ensure that insurance, bonding, and other performance security requirements are fulfilled.
  • Clarify insurance requirements and provide training for district/project staff in partnership with Risk Management.
  • Oversee the strategy and preparation of insurance, subcontractor default insurance, and legal claims.
  • Draft and negotiate various contract terms.
  • Serve as the district's chief security officer (CSO), ensuring compliance with security requirements for federal government contracts.
Qualifications
  • Undergraduate degree or diploma in a relevant field (Accounting, Finance, Insurance & Risk Management, or Legal).
  • Accounting/Insurance/Legal/Risk Management designation is advantageous.
  • Over 10 years of progressive accounting experience in the construction or related sectors.
  • At least 2 years of experience with risk management and legal issues is preferred.
  • More than 5 years of supervisory experience in managing an Accounting/Finance/Risk Management/Legal department.
  • Strong financial management skills; advanced understanding of accounting practices, budget management, financial forecasting, analysis, and reporting.
  • Familiarity with bid and contract securities and insurance as they pertain to risk management, claims management, pricing, and accounting.
  • Knowledge of contract/construction law in relation to tender documents, project contracts, and claims management.
