About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Financial Risk Management Specialist to join our team at PCL Construction. As an Assistant Manager, Financial Operations, you will play a key role in assisting with the management of all financial related issues, including monthly operations reporting, quarterly financial reporting, mid-year/year-end business planning, financial reviews, and financial accounting year-end.

Responsibilities

  • Senior role in assisting with the management of all financial related issues, including financial reporting, budget administration, and financial forecasting.
  • Reviews monthly forecasting, district/project recoveries, and various other reconciliations.
  • Supports project and pursuit teams to identify, communicate, and manage financial and insurance risks and opportunities.
  • Senior role in assisting with implementing, monitoring, and ensuring adherence to company and project insurance policies and procedures.
  • Evaluates, coordinates, and ensures insurance, bonding, and other performance securities requirements are being met.
  • Clarifies insurance requirements and provides training for district/project personnel in consultation with Risk Management.
  • Oversees strategy and preparation of insurance, subcontractor default insurance, and legal claims.
  • Drafts and negotiates various forms of contract language.
  • Acts as the district chief security officer (CSO) and is responsible for ensuring the district meets the security requirements of CDN federal government contracts.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree or diploma in a related discipline (Accounting, Finance, Insurance & Risk Management or Legal).
  • Accounting/Insurance/Legal/Risk Management designation an asset.
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience in the construction or related industry.
  • 2+ years of exposure to risk management and legal issues preferred.
  • 5+ years of supervisory experience managing a Accounting/Finance/Risk Management/Legal department.
  • Strong financial management acumen; advanced knowledge of accounting procedures and protocols, budget administration and financial forecasting, analysis, and reporting.
  • Knowledge of bid and contract securities and insurance as they relate to risk management, claims management, pricing, and accounting.
  • Knowledge of contract/construction law in relation to tender documents, project contracts, and claims management.
