Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Assistant Director of Finance to join our team at CAHRD. As a key member of our finance department, you will be responsible for assisting the Director of Finance with day-to-day accounting tasks, financial reporting, and staff supervision.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Operations: Assist with payroll, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and banking tasks.
  • Budgeting and Financial Planning: Assist in the development and preparation of comprehensive capital and operating budgets.
  • Financial Reporting: Assist in preparing financial statements and reports for the organization.
  • Staff Supervision: Supervise and lead the finance department staff, providing guidance and support as needed.
  • Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure compliance with federal and provincial regulations, as well as Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Training and Development: Assist in the implementation of new fiscal policies and training of staff as required.
  • Communication and Reporting: Respond to inquiries, provide reports to the Director of Finance and/or Executive Director as required, and assist in the preparation of the annual audit process.
Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's degree or CPA program, or an equivalent combination of post-secondary education specializing in accounting.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years' experience in financial operations in a finance/accounting position.
  • Skills and Abilities: Records maintenance and database management skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, automated financial systems, and the Internet, knowledge of business practices and procedures, and advanced knowledge of non-profit sector financial, accounting, and budgeting principles and procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Indigenous Background: Preference will be given to Indigenous candidates (Status, Non-status, Métis, or Inuit).
  • CAHRD Registration: Preference will also be given to clients who are registered with CAHRD.
