Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Administrative Support Specialist to join our Ambulatory Care team at North York General Hospital. As a key member of our team, you will provide administrative support to our busy Outpatient Clinic, ensuring seamless communication and coordination with patients, staff, and external partners.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide administrative support to the Outpatient Clinic, including coordinating appointments, managing patient records, and processing medical orders.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams to ensure timely and accurate information exchange.
  • Coordinate interdepartmental activities, including transportation of patients for tests and services.
  • Assume responsibility for identifying and escalating issues to the Clinical Team Manager or Registered Nurse in a timely manner.
  • Compile and disseminate program activity reports and statistics.
  • Manage unit supplies, services, and repair needs.
Requirements
  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Medical Secretary/Medical Office Assistant certificate or equivalent.
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Minimum of one year comparable office experience, preferably with medical/surgical orientation.
  • Experience working in an ambulatory clinic setting.
  • Proficiency in required computer programs.
  • Accurate and efficient typing skills of 45 w.p.m.
  • Bilingualism in French/English an asset.
