About the Role

Dawson Group is seeking a highly skilled Business Development Manager to play a pivotal role in identifying growth opportunities, securing projects, and fostering positive relationships with key stakeholders, including indigenous communities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive business development opportunity strategy that integrates with the overall strategic plan across Dawson.
  • Explore opportunities for local businesses to participate in projects as suppliers, subcontractors, or partners, ensuring fair procurement practices that support economic development.
  • Conduct thorough market research to identify potential opportunities with road construction and maintenance projects.
  • Stay informed about local and regional infrastructure development plans and funding opportunities.
  • Collaborate with experts to conduct comprehensive assessments of potential project impacts on stakeholder communities.
  • Implement sustainable practices in road construction and maintenance to minimize ecological impacts on the environment.
  • Ensure that the company's commitment to indigenous relations is reflected in all activities.
  • Maintain transparency in all interactions with stakeholders, providing regular reports on project progress, including updates on environmental and social performance.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and agreements related to indigenous rights and land use, including negotiating impact benefit agreements (IBAs) when appropriate.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or a related field.
  • Proven experience in civil construction management or a related field.
  • Several years of experience in business development within the construction or infrastructure industry, with a focus on road construction and maintenance.
  • Strong understanding of indigenous relations and principles of engagement.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and cross-cultural skills.
  • Proficiency in project management and contract administration.
  • Familiarity with GIS for mapping and analysis in indigenous territories.
  • Experience with sustainable and environmentally friendly road construction practices.
  • Knowledge of federal grant and funding programs for infrastructure projects with indigenous involvement.
  • Understanding and respect for the principle of Free, Prior, and Informed Consent (FPIC) when working with indigenous communities.
