Director of Research and Development

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Research and Development to join our team at Skjodt-Barrett Foods. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for driving the development of new products and processes that meet the needs of our customers and the market.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement product development strategies that align with business objectives and market trends.
- Lead cross-functional teams in the technical aspects of product development, including investigation, planning, execution, evaluation, and reporting.
- Manage and mentor the product development team, identifying gaps in skills and working closely with individuals to build their strengths.
- Develop and implement effective systems and procedures to manage multiple projects in the sales and innovation pipeline.
- Guide the team in meeting operational standards for quality, cost, food safety, and sustainability.
- Integrate the latest food technologies in products for the market.
- Lead new ingredient research and technological advancements.
- Stay informed about market trends and emerging ingredients to guide the development of innovative products.
- Ensure all new and existing products meet regulatory requirements, quality standards, and customer specifications.
- Background in Food Science and experience in the food processing industry, specifically in product design and development.
- Experience in leading cross-functional teams, creating and implementing product development strategies, and overseeing the execution of multiple complex deliverables simultaneously.
- Technical knowledge of ERP systems (e.g. D365 or SAP) to contribute to driving material demands and production planning and the importance of data integrity.
