Director of Research and Development Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Research and Development to join our team at Skjodt-Barrett Foods Inc. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for driving our product innovation strategy and leading a team of 15 people in the development of new food products.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement a product innovation strategy that aligns with business objectives and market trends.
  • Lead a team of product developers in the creation of new food products, ensuring they meet quality, cost, food safety, and sustainability standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including customer service, sales, procurement, operations, and quality assurance, to meet product innovation demands.
  • Build partnerships with customers and suppliers to drive innovation and growth.
  • Develop and implement effective systems and procedures to manage multiple projects in the sales and innovation pipeline.
Requirements:
  • Background in Food Science and experience in the food processing industry, specifically in product design and development.
  • Proven track record of leading cross-functional teams and creating and implementing product development strategies.
  • Strong business and industry knowledge, with the ability to guide a product team in evaluating ingredient effectiveness, availability, and costs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
