Position Overview
The Patient Care Support Specialist plays a vital role within a multidisciplinary team, operating under the guidance of the Patient Care Manager or the Nurse in Charge. The responsibilities include:
- Executing various administrative tasks and serving as a communication conduit for the unit.
- Assisting with patient care and comfort, alongside performing routine cleaning duties to ensure a hygienic environment (task distribution varies based on unit needs and occupancy).
Experience Requirements
- Prior experience in a related field is preferred.
Educational Qualifications
- Completion of secondary education as per Manitoba standards is mandatory.
- Successful completion of both the Health Care Aide and Unit Clerk training programs is essential.
Certification and Licensure
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training must comply with the employer's policy, with ongoing training provided as necessary.
Skills and Qualifications
- Proficient keyboarding skills are required.
- Understanding of medical terminology with a minimum passing score of 75% is necessary.
- Excellent command of the English language, both spoken and written, is essential.
- Ability to effectively organize and prioritize tasks.
- Capability to recognize and pursue opportunities for self-improvement.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Aptitude for managing multiple demands simultaneously.
- Ability to follow instructions and work collaboratively as part of a team.
- General administrative skills and the ability to handle all responsibilities pertinent to the role.
- Demonstrated effective communication skills, ensuring smooth interactions across departments.
- Utilization of a constructive approach to problem-solving in all job-related tasks.
- Competence in operating necessary information technology equipment, such as fax machines, photocopiers, and computers.
Physical Demands
- Must be capable of functioning effectively in a high-pressure environment with frequent interruptions.
- The role may require physical activities such as lifting, transferring, and transporting patients and equipment.
Additional Information
This position necessitates a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check, including a Vulnerable Sector Search, as well as checks for Child and Adult Abuse Registries. The successful candidate will bear any associated service charges. A security check is deemed current if conducted within six months prior to employment commencement.
It is important to note that employees are not permitted to hold multiple positions within the organization that collectively exceed 1.0 EFT.
