We are seeking a highly skilled Heavy Equipment Field Service Technician to join our team at Golderado Contracting Corp. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance and reliability of our heavy equipment fleet.
Key Responsibilities- Operate and maintain service trucks in the field to provide timely and efficient support to our operations.
- Repair and maintain all makes of heavy construction equipment, including dozers, bulldozers, excavators, wheel loaders, scrapers, water wagons, motor graders, compaction rollers, and articulated trucks.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as cleaning, lubricating, and inspecting equipment to prevent breakdowns and ensure optimal performance.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment issues using computerized and other testing equipment to determine the extent of repair required.
- Test repaired equipment to ensure it meets manufacturers' specifications and is safe for operation.
- Keep accurate maintenance records and documentation to track equipment history and performance.
- Provide training and guidance to apprentices and junior technicians to help them develop their skills and knowledge.
- Collaborate with site management to prioritize maintenance tasks and ensure that equipment is available when needed.
- Promote a culture of safety awareness and ensure compliance with corporate health and safety policies and procedures.
- Perform preventative maintenance tasks to prevent equipment failures and downtime.
- Operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Heavy Duty Mechanic Certification or eligibility to obtain certification.
- Experience in a leadership role is considered an asset.
- Completion of a three- to five-year apprenticeship program or a combination of over three years of work experience in the trade and some high school, college, or industry courses in heavy equipment repair.
- Knowledge of troubleshooting and repairing CAT, John Deere, and Hitachi equipment is an asset.
- Experience in Heavy Civil Earthworks Construction and/or Infrastructure is required.
- A valid Alberta Class 5 Driver's License or equivalent is required.
- A driver's abstract is required and must be obtained no more than 30 days prior to employment start date.
- Class 3 Driver's License with air brakes is an asset.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Reliable means of transportation is required.
- Proficient English language skills are required.
Journey Level Heavy Duty Mechanic Certification is required.
