Crisis Intervention Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Crisis Worker to join our Crisis Services team at the Canadian Mental Health Association - Peel Dufferin Branch. As a Crisis Worker, you will play a vital role in providing immediate crisis line response, initial triage, crisis stabilization, and development of intervention plans.
Key Responsibilities- Provide immediate crisis line response and initial triage to individuals in crisis
- Conduct risk and safety assessments, mental status examinations, and promote healthy coping strategies
- Develop and implement intervention plans to support individuals in crisis
- Collaborate with CMHA colleagues, hospitals, law enforcement agencies, and mental health and social service agencies to deliver effective crisis services
- Participate in agency and community meetings, committees, and workgroups as requested by manager
- University degree in Social Work, BSc. Nursing, or degree in Occupational Therapy
- Regulated Health Professional (Registered Nurse, Registered Psychotherapist, or Registered Occupational Therapist) or Registered Social Worker
- Minimum 3 years of experience working in acute mental health sector, preferably in the community
- Ability to work 12-hour shifts on a rotational schedule
- Experience with crisis intervention techniques and theory-based practice in working with seriously mentally ill individuals
- Knowledge of risk assessments, suicide prevention, and principles of crisis theory and intervention
- Valid Canadian driver's license and access to an insured automobile in good repair
- Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Screening (Police Check) report
