Position Overview
Responsibilities:
- Conduct immediate evaluations and interventions for individuals presenting to the Emergency Department in crisis due to severe psychiatric conditions, substance use disorders, or psychosocial challenges.
- Collaborate effectively with hospital staff in a dynamic and fast-paced setting.
Required Qualifications
- A Master's Degree in Social Work, Nursing, or Counseling/Psychology, complemented by relevant experience in mental health and addiction services.
- Registration with the appropriate professional regulatory body.
- A minimum of three years of recent, relevant experience in crisis intervention within mental health and addiction contexts.
- Proven knowledge and application of best practice guidelines in crisis intervention and crisis management theories.
- Strong assessment and counseling capabilities.
- Ability to advocate for and support individuals with severe and persistent mental health issues.
- Proficiency in developing care plans for individuals in crisis.
- Experience in establishing and nurturing community connections and resources.
- A commitment to delivering high-quality customer service to the public (patients and families) and various clinical professionals.
- Demonstrated ability to function effectively within an interdisciplinary team.
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
- Proficient computer skills are essential.
- A strong attendance record is required.
Additional Information
This position requires flexibility in scheduling, including days, evenings, nights, and 8 to 12-hour shifts, as the crisis program operates 24/7.
