Job Title: Crisis Intervention Worker

William Osler Health System is seeking a skilled Crisis Intervention Worker to join our team. As a Crisis Intervention Worker, you will provide immediate assessment and intervention for individuals presenting to the Emergency Department in crisis due to symptoms associated with a serious and severe psychiatric problem, addiction, and/or psychosocial problem(s).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide immediate assessment and intervention for individuals in crisis
  • Work collaboratively with hospital colleagues in a fast-paced environment
Qualifications:
  • Masters Degree in Social Work, Nursing, or Counseling/Psychology with relevant experience in mental health and addictions
  • Registration with the appropriate professional college
  • Minimum of three years recent, related experience in crisis intervention in the fields of mental health and addictions
  • Excellent assessment and counseling skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work with and advocate for individuals with severe and persistent mental illness
  • Demonstrated ability to develop care plans for those in crisis
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and foster community linkages and resources
  • Demonstrated commitment to providing quality customer service
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within an interdisciplinary team
  • Self-directed and able to work effectively with minimal supervision
  • Proficiency in computer skills
  • Excellent attendance record
Working Conditions:

Currently days/evenings/nights, 8 and 12 hour shifts with overnight, weekends, and statutory holidays as the crisis program is a 24 hour service which runs seven days a week.
