Job Title: Manager, Student Life

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Manager, Student Life to join our team at BCIT. As a key member of our Student Success department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the well-being and success of our students.

Job Summary:

The Manager, Student Life will be responsible for managing the response to students with varying degrees of distress, assessing and addressing student-related situations that have the potential to adversely impact the BCIT community. You will implement the operational activities of the Institution-wide Early Alert program and coordinate the appropriate communication and response.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Establish protocols and procedures for early identification and response to students in distress.
  • Support students with complex nonacademic issues that are impacting their academic pursuits.
  • Work with various stakeholders to develop academic and institutional accommodations to aid students in distress.
  • Develop and implement processes to assess the student experience and provide guidance to student services departments.
  • Coordinate the Early Alert Program, including training and materials development.
  • Review and assess Early Alert Reports and maintain a centralized reporting database for student case management.
  • Provide guidance and consultation for BCIT employees regarding student case management services.
  • Conduct investigations and establish procedures for conducting investigations and hearings for allegations of nonacademic student misconduct.
  • Review and assess incident reports and enact appropriate response protocols in partnership with the Safety and Security department.
Qualifications and Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Counselling, Social Work, or other relevant field. Master's degree preferred.
  • Three to six years of experience in a variety of positions encompassing student services and/or relevant administrative responsibilities in a postsecondary environment.
  • Strong background in administrative process management, case management, and conflict resolution.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to build and sustain effective relationships with various stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with student conduct policies and other relevant legislative requirements.
