The British Columbia Institute of Technology Student Association (BCITSA or ‘SA’) is a non-profit student service and advocacy organization at BCIT with a mandate to enhance student life. Our programs and services are designed to benefit and support all 48,500+ full-time and part-time students across BCIT’s five campuses. Students lead our organization and govern the affairs of the BCITSA. Our Board of Directors is composed of 12 elected Student Executives and Student Councilors from each of the different Schools at BCIT.
**About the Position**
The _Link _Editor supports the monthly _Link _magazine by assisting contributors with developing their article ideas and editing all submitted _Link _content using a three-stage editing process. They will communicate with their contributors regularly and provide feedback in a positive and encouraging manner. They will be supported by the Publications Coordinator and the Publications Manager. It's important for this person to be detailed, communicative, and punctual.
The Editor will also assist with proofreading each issue and will attend all editorial meetings to provide insight and assist with developing a direction for upcoming issues. They will engage with students at BCIT as often as possible to encourage contributions to the magazine and will attend events as required.
**RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES**
- Encourage BCIT students to get involved
- Communicate quickly and clearly with all BCIT students on behalf of _Link_
- Collaborate with student editors and contributors
- Assist contributors in developing and finalizing story ideas
- Edit submitted articles via a three-stage process
- Assist with proofreading the issue each month
- Attend all editorial meetings and provide input on direction
- Attend events and outreach sessions as needed
**About You**
**EXPERIENCE/SKILLS/EDUCATION**
- Excellent writing and editing skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Team player
- Current BCIT student
- Coaching skills
- Ability to work independently
- Intermediate proficiency with Windows and MS Office Suite
- Understanding of the issues relevant to student life in Canada
