POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior Investigator in Financial Crimes and Misconduct is tasked with conducting thorough investigations into external fraud and misconduct cases. The ideal candidate will possess strong credit expertise, a solid understanding of loan processes, and the ability to pinpoint gaps and risks to enhance controls. Additionally, this role requires the establishment and maintenance of robust relationships with key stakeholders across various Business Units and Corporate Functions. The primary focus will be on fraud prevention and detection as outlined below.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Oversee the intake, assessment, and resolution of fraud investigations. Conduct investigations into suspected fraudulent activities of varying complexities. Execute formal interviews with diverse stakeholders and external entities. Collaborate effectively with internal and external parties during investigations. Proactively identify and escalate root causes and trends that require attention to mitigate fraud risks. Assist in the review and enhancement of internal Policies, Directives, and Procedures related to fraud. Support the implementation of enterprise-wide prevention, detection, and risk management strategies that minimize fraud exposure. Develop and facilitate fraud awareness training sessions. Serve as the primary contact and subject matter expert for fraud prevention topics and strategic discussions in cases of suspected fraud. Present investigation briefs to senior management to update them on incidents, subsequent actions, and remediation strategies. Maintain a thorough understanding of Know Your Client (KYC) requirements. Keep abreast of BDC's product offerings and loan authorization processes. Collaborate with fellow Financial Crimes and Misconduct investigators to support internal fraud and misconduct inquiries.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in business or a related field is required. A minimum of 5 years of experience in analyzing/authorizing credit files, conducting lending fraud investigations, or other relevant roles. CFE (Certified Fraud Examiner), CPA (Chartered Professional Accountant), and/or other relevant certifications are considered a significant asset. Familiarity with investigation best practices, lending methodologies, and completion of associated certifications/courses is regarded as a strong asset. High level of integrity, professionalism, and sound judgment regarding confidential matters. Exceptional relationship management skills and an adaptable communication style to meet the needs of various stakeholders. Strong analytical skills, including the ability to interpret large datasets and derive meaningful insights. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is required. Excellent written and presentation abilities. Proficiency in English is required; French is an asset.
