Position Overview

The Lighting Technical Specialist plays a crucial role in the setup and management of lighting systems for various live events, ensuring exceptional client satisfaction. This position reports to a Project Manager, Operations Manager, Operations Director, or Director of Event Technology.

Key Responsibilities

Equipment Management

  • Guarantees seamless event execution through precise and timely setup, operation, and dismantling of sophisticated lighting and audiovisual equipment.
  • Diagnoses technical challenges and resolves issues promptly as they occur.
  • Adheres to all company security and safety protocols.
  • Safeguards equipment against theft and damage during usage.

Client Relations

  • Delivers outstanding service and aims to surpass the expectations of both internal and external clients.
  • Maintains positive relationships with all clients through effective communication.
  • Collaborates with the internal team on event solutions before and during events to ensure optimal customer satisfaction.
  • Understands and nurtures the relationship with clients.

Training and Development

  • Cultivates an environment that promotes the development of technical and leadership skills among team members.
  • Provides guidance and mentorship to technical, sales, and operations personnel to enhance their technical capabilities.

Event Oversight

  • Engages in advanced tasks (pre/during/post event) alongside operations team members.
  • Supervises and directs fellow technicians throughout the event.

Equipment Care

  • Assists the team with the proper security, storage, transportation, and maintenance of equipment.
  • Conducts inventory assessments and forecasts equipment requirements.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's Degree is preferred.
  • Encore Technical Level 3 Certification is mandatory. New team members must achieve certification within 30 days.
  • Two Encore Technical Level Two Core Certifications are required (Audio, Lighting, Projection, Video, Scenic). New team members must be certified by a qualified proctor within 60 days.
  • A minimum of 4 years of field experience in the specialty area is required.
  • 3-5 years of experience in customer service or hospitality is preferred.
  • Ability to interact professionally and effectively with a diverse workforce, customer base, and senior management.
  • Experience managing multiple tasks and initiatives.
  • Strong customer, client, and coworker interaction skills.
  • A valid driver's license is required for team members in positions that may operate company vehicles. Additional DOT requirements may apply.
